In the writing station today, one of my students wrote the sentence, "I want to learn Spanish in high school so I can go to China and make new friends." Then he drew a picture of a guy trying to figure out how to get past "the big wall." :)
LOL! That reminds me of years ago when I was speaking to an auditorium full of middle schoolers about drug education. I made the statement that marijuana causes so many babies to be born prematurely each year... A kid raised his hand, so I called on him. He says, "she's right people. My sister smoked pot all the time while she was pregnant and now my little nephew acts very grown up. I stood there with my mouth open.... :)
