I asked my kids to write about the things they did over the Thanksgiving break.
These are the questions I was asked...
How do you spell cop?
How do you spell exorcism?
Is Edward Scissorhands one word or two?

Manners
I was letting my students play a math game on my interactive white board and I was calling up two people at a time so they could help each other. I called up a boy and a girl and told them they needed to decide between them who would go first. The boy looked at the girl, winked, and said, "Ladies first!" So sweet!

Poke
We were sounding out our spelling words, today.
The word was "poke," so we sounded it out: p..oh...k... poke.
Right after we said "poke," one of my kids started singing, "P-P-P-Pooooker Face!"

New Language
In the writing station today, one of my students wrote the sentence, "I want to learn Spanish in high school so I can go to China and make new friends." Then he drew a picture of a guy trying to figure out how to get past "the big wall." :)

Predicates
I was teaching my students about subjects and predicates today. I gave them some silly sentences and they were supposed to tell me the subject and predicate of the sentence.
The sentence was, "The pig flew away."
I said, "What is the predicate?"
They said, "flew away."
I asked, "What is the subject?"
One of my students:
"Well... It could have been a cockroach!"

Chicken Pox
A few years ago, I was walking down the hallway when I overheard a conversation between to kindergartners. The little girl said to her friend, "How can I have chicken pox?? I didn't even get bit by a chicken!!"

Bubble
This morning all of the kids were in my personal space so I said, “This is my bubble…” And I showed them my bubble. One of my students quietly walked up, stuck her finger out, and went, “Pop!” :O So, I said, “Did you just pop my bubble?” She said, “Fine…” and then proceeded to blow my bubble back up…

Beep
Today, someone made an announcement at the end of the day and in the middle, it cut her off and made a beeping noise. One of my students said, "That's like on t.v. when someone says a bad word!"

My blog!
My name is Katie and I am a second grade teacher. Everyday I come home and tell my husband funny things my kids have said at work. He told me I should write a blog about it so here it is... Every once in a while I will post a quote from one of my students but I will not give their names for obvious reasons. Enjoy! :)
